While the 3Hills team worked hard on upcoming games, a few members had some time to spare. So they came to the idea of attending the Digital Summit - Western Balkans 6, putting their skills to the test!
Little did they know that on September 22nd, in Pristina, they would be winning their first-place Game Jam prize!
This competition was 48h long with the theme "Everything is connected". In two days, competitors had to develop a creative, functional, and catchy game.
"We named our game ‘* connecting countries by building railroads**. Even though we were developing an online game using our laptops, we were inspired by the past - the time before online connection, when only the roads connected the world.*" told Jelena Janković, CEO of 3Hills.
This gameplay represented the connection of Western Balkan. Furthermore, it showed that these countries were not only neighbors but long-term friends.
"We aimed for " said Filip Boljević, 3Hills developer. "It was challenging to develop a gameplay on such short notice, but I am so proud of what we managed to do!" continued Filip proudly.
The player needs to set each rail at a perfect angle for the train to be able to move and have fuel consumption in mind to finish the level. Each level gets more complex, with more rails and difficulty in level design.
The jury was left speechless after seeing what this team had created, from the idea to gameplay and design. This resulted in a complete win for a small team testing their creativity.
"I am so proud of how far we came. All our hard work paid off! Having only 48h to finish a game design successfully was the most incredible feeling! Not to mention standing on the stage with the prize in our hands!" happily concluded Ivana Bošković, 3Hills game designer.
Digital Summit 2022 was organized by the Ministry of Economy in association with all other public and private institutions, actively transforming the country into a sustainable digital environment. Furthermore, with IPKO Foundation's help, Game Jam was organized.
